Getting involved as an active shareholder

On our engagement page, we would like to offer you an overview of the topics to which we devote particular attention as a sustainability-focused asset manager. Our aim in this context is to raise awareness of new trends and approaches in relation to sustainability and engagement activities. In addition, we would like to demonstrate that engagement pays off when practised systematically and with a common-sense approach.

Guiding principles

Investing responsibly has always been at the heart of the Union Investment Group’s business model. We firmly believe that our attitude towards environmental, social and corporate governance issues can raise our investors’ awareness of key aims and objectives in today’s world.

With this in mind, we base our activities on a selection of principles and policies:

UN Principles for Responsible Investment

In August 2010, we became a signatory to the Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI). These Principles were developed by a group of international institutional investors as part of a process coordinated by the UN Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI) and the UN Global Compact.

  1. We will incorporate ESG issues into investment analysis and decision-making processes.
  2. We will be active owners and incorporate ESG issues into our ownership policies and practices.
  3. We will seek appropriate disclosure on ESG issues by the entities in which we invest.
  4. We will promote acceptance and implementation of the Principles within the investment industry.
  5. We will work together to enhance our effectiveness in implementing the Principles.
  6. We will each report on our activities and progress towards implementing the Principles.

Proxy Voting Policy
